okay...heres the problem...1969 chrysler 318, raw water cooled, sherwood d60 dual impeller raw water pump. ran fine last year, winterized, then put back in water about a week ago. engine temperature went to 220+...rebuilt pump with new impellers, pulled manifold hose to check flow, then started engine...good flow...reinstalled manifold hose...restarted...temp went to 120 then steadily rose to 220+...pulled manifold hose again...restarted engine to check flow and all i got was steam. let cool, replace impellers again...filled engine block with water, restarted same way...with same results. NOW WHAT DO I DO??????!!!!!!!!!!! |

Could be a multiple of issues. Check thermostat. Check all hoses for flow. Check for flow coming OUT of your engine, including exhaust. Check for free flow through your exhaust risers. Check oil for any water infiltration. Pull your spark plugs and look for a wet cylinder. You could have a blown head gasket or cracked head. Pressure test cylinder/heads. Check exhaust manifolds for internal cracks. Good luck! |
