Hi thought about starting a new thread that lists
out different Land engines that has been marinized and then also pure marine engines.
This came up as we once had a wooden 27 foot cabin boat from 1943 rumored to having a 100hp Scripps in it originally and it's up for sale again. I have a hard time believing it and thought about other engines from the early days and up to today.
Greymarine 265/280/310 Fireball-> Buick 401 Nailhead
Greymarine other Fireballs SBC 327/283's.
Scripps F6 100-127 h.p. ---all own design?
Greymarine 100 flathead 6-> Chrysler 6

I think Gray also used continental blocks.
Chris Craft used Hercules, Chevy’s, Fords and a few others for conversions. Owens boats had flagship conversions from Chevy’s and Fords.
Nordberg made Marine conversions
Sears, Ted Williams’s brand outboards used Tecumseh.
I think Fairbanks Morse maid marine conversions also.
I believe Packard made Marine conversions
Lathorp stationary made marine conversions.
Kermith diesels made marine conversions.
Detroit makes conversions
MTU makes marine conversions.
I think Atlas also made stationary and marine conversions
That’s all I can remember at this time.
Keep them coming this could turn into a very interesting thread.
Oh Yeh, sorry if I Butchered the spelling

Kermath made many of thier own engines but also converted automotive engines. They made thier own 1414in Sea-Raider V-12 but also converted the flathead Ford V-8 and the Lincoln V-12. Later they also converted Hercules among others.

Lathrop was pure marine until they sold out.
My lathrop is from the mid 60's and a lot of the parts are M.G....thats right, the little car M.G. So my engine rebuilder replaced every part that he could when he rebuilt the engine.I plan on keeping this engine and boat going for another 50 years.

can you tell me what MG motor was used by Lathrop? I have a whole bunch of Datsuns that basically used a license built MG motor.

in their later years Lathrop (B&W Lathrop in the 60's) used Herculies blocks.

I am not sure which M.G. engine shares parts with my Lathrop. The engine I have is a 1965/66 35 H.P. 4 cylinder.I got new pistons and bearings and a new oil pump, as well as other parts from my engine re-builder.
