Does anyone have a picture or ad of a 1907-1908 George Smalley 4 or 6 cylinder high speed engine that they could post. This would have been a 24 hp probably 4"x4" cylinder diameter. I've got an extensive photocopy collection from the Clayton museum's collection of old motorboating mags, but I've never seen an engine pictured in the ads for the George Smalley Company. I'm doing some research on Canada's first competitive speedboat, a 30 foot racer built in 1908 that was powered by such an engine

Is the Smalley Co. of Bay City, Michigan the one your looking for ? If so I'll look for other engines in ads !
This is 1907 ad.

thanks for the ad. I was at the Clayton NY museum library last week and found Smalley ads, but none with any photos. The engine was a 20-24 hp 4 cylinder engine. This powered a 30x4ft raceboat, called the "Smalley" that was built by the Gilbert Motor Boat Company ltd of Brockville Ont. Gilbert purchased Smalley engines for most of its 1907-1910 boats when it switched to Sterling. This was the Smalley Motor Company of Bay City, Michigan.
