Drofin gearbox oil level

I run a Drofin twin and am concerned at the correct level for the gearbox. Should it be measured with the dipstick screwed in or with the screw end resting on the top of the gearbox

There are 2 marks on the dipstick and the manual only states that there should be 0.37 pounds of oil.

Following a link on Drofin dimensions only gives a pretty picture
