I am the proud owner of a Yanmar NTS85 believed to be 40-50 years old. She is in near perfect condition and I am just about to put her into an 1940's Athol Burns Design Clinker.
I have no information whatsoever on this engine and would be grateful if anybody can tell me more about it.

Yes the NTS85, does have reverse.
You may just need to do some adjustment.
I know here in Aus, the reverse band is about the only part of this engine which cannot be sourced as a replacement part.
Great engine, except for low rev vibration, but that is common to all the single cylinder engines of the time I think.

I have a photo copy of the work shop manual and the original owners manual.
I bought both of these from.
Yanmar Diesel Specialists.
P.O. Box 304.
Hope this helps. The people I dealt with were very good. Postage to U.S.A. should not be too bad.
