Just been reading your site for hours, really interesting!

I have a Thornycroft RZ6/180 marine engine about to be fitted in my river tug, that I'd love to find out more about- I bought it to replace the damaged original engine (it came with loads of new spares, so i had it completely rebuilt), but i've recently heard from someone interested in thornycrofts that it might be 125hp, and not the 180hp that i was led to believe when i bought it. This is a problem for me, because i've done some sums, and reckon it will struggle to swing my prop if the lower rating is correct. I've found very little info on these engines over the past few years, so if anyone has any, I'd be really grateful. Apparently the R means it was built in Reading, Z means marine, and 6 is the number of cylinders.

best wishes

steve

Thanks Michael, but I did pick up a manual for an RL6 (and an RNR6) over the time I was searching for info- I did also find a RZ6 parts book in Australia, and a sales brochure in Argentina!- but I decided to sell the engine in the end and buy a bigger one. It's currently advertised on boatsandoutboards.com and findafishingboat.com if anyone's interested in seeing it.
