Belle River Louisiana Sunday April 1st was the place to be!
J.B Castagnos's annual spring get together at his camp was once again a wonderful time for all that attended, The people getting together, the delightful cajun food, to see the old Bateau's running in the water and hear the popping of the old one and two lungers is an experience that is long remembered.
A local man in his 70's attending for the first time recalled that when he was a boy on a Sunday he would rise early to the Quiet stillness of the morning, but soon the popping of the motors would pervade the swamps and bayous from all directions, in time all of the bateaus and skiffs would be docked at the local church for services and for a few hours the quiet would return, but once again with a flurry of smoke and sounds of the old motors would fill the air untill some time later after the last family had gotten back home the quiet stillness would once again return!
This way of life with the boats and bayou's as transportation is their heritage that is celebrated here each year at J.B.'s

The day before on Saturday we attended a local show- The Patterson saw mill festival some of those photos are included. over half of the photos I took were not on my camera when I arrived home ??
Bob Price and Miro Forest came down from the chilly north to attend, they took photos and hopefully will post some here as well ?

Great looking event and boats etc. Seems that easter in the USA and Aussie are fairly similar. Sure would like to come and see Belle river some day.

John, if you ever make it here be sure to come to Louisiana, we'll take you on a tour of the local collectors and get a bunch of the boats together for a ride. Miro and RB Price enjoyed their vist.
