Tom ,my first reaction to your problem is that something in the throttle linkage is ''Sticking''.As you would be aware the same throttle settings are obtained with the throttle lever set whether you are in forward or reverse.I will have alook at mine but from memory one setting if not both depend on spring tension..................Just went and had a look. If you engage astern and then forward the throttle collar and screw should move identical distances. This movement in and out controls the amount of opening in the venturi. If the opening distance is not the same check the spring tension also that the connecting links are not sticking.........if all this is ''Dutch '' to you let me know and I will try and explain it a little better.

Does your gear have a lower reduction in reverse than forward? If so, you may be down on power for some reason.

A good suggestion JB .My memory is getting bad . A case recently had the same problem and it was resolved by cleaning the prop.

Turned out to be nothing more than A dodgy plug lead, going like a dream now.
Thanks all for your replies.
