Head is back on , if i can get the decks and combing sanded on the RubyToo early enough on Saturday, i might try and get the MRE started up.
If i can talk my wife into driving up to Davistown i will put the engine into the wagon and put it on display.
There is a lot of ifs there.

Hi Matt and Ron,

Just wondering where you had the exhaust outlet made and was it an expensive exercise? Could probably do the same thing with an expansion chamber cover if a good second hand one was not available. This is my first post but have been following this site for just over a year - lots of good information. I have a vintage boat with a P6D in it - I am from Perth, Western Australia.

Kendall, we got ours from a guy in Sydney who has also been playing around with the cover plate as well.
We got the outlet as a casting and had it machined, and i did The polishing, when you consider how much a small diesel costs spending a bit on these old engines is a bit easier.
The p55mre is now in as many bits as possible, we are awaiting the arrival of some seals and we will start to put her back together.
Regards Matt and Ron.
Ps Peter Ogborne in WA has a wealth of knowledge on Stuarts.

Thanks Matt, If your guy is interested in supplying any castings to suit Stuarts in the future let me know as I would be interested. Hopefully one day someone, somewhere may be able to make the cast iron cylinders and heads! This seems to be one of the main problems on engines I have seen - badly cracked cylinder blocks and corrosion after drying out. First thing I did when I got my boat was to fill the water galleries with auto inhibitor - something I learnt on this site. Hope to one day do the heat exchanger thing.
Regards, Kendall
