Can anybody help with the kind of oil seal I should use in the Detroit gear?

David,
Just measure the ID of the bore where the seal goes and the OD of the shaft.
Then go to your local bearing/seal supplier and they should be able to provide them for you.
No bearing/seal supplier then use the link below with yor dimensions. Make sure to click the search by dimensions tab at the top.

David,

In addition to search by dimensions also select rotary shaft seals from the drop down menu.

I plugged in some numbers so you can see the results.

Then click search.

It defaults to inch so if you are using a metric measurerizer then click millimetres.
Or if you want both click Display all measurements.

It is a very helpful page and I use it a lot.
