Dear Sirs,

I have a 1930, 36 foot Blanchard raised-deck cruiser.

The Carpenter's Logs show she was built with a Red Wing gas engine producing 70 HP. I assume this must be a 6 cylinder motor?

Do you know what model of Red Wing motor, manufactured on the late 1920s or early 30s would have produced this horsepower?

Do you have any technical information on this motor...

I am trying to complete the history of this wonderful boat.

Red Wing made the following 70 hp engines in 1930:
Arrow 6, 40-80 hp (6cyl)
Arrow Jr XJ 35-70 hp (6cyl)
Arrow special 6 45-75 hp (6cyl)
Big Chief Special 4 75-90 (4cyl)

and they had a few more added as the 30's went on.

the Arrow Jr XJ 35-70 hp (6cyl) was made from 1930 to 1935, and 66 were made.

that's my best guess.

Durene,

I'm sure there are collectors that would be interested in your engine.

You could post it in our classifieds.

You will need a more complete description of the engine and photos if possible. How many cylinders, what model (might be on the tag), etc. You can post photos with the ad, and/or post them here. If you have trouble posting pictures I can do it for you.
