Finally some varnish ... a friend that is a good painter suggested that I put the 1st 2 coats of varnish on the coaming and rub rails so I won't have/clean new wood exposed to what I finish the deck with. I can also mask them. Once the deck is done then the final varnishing can be completed.

Yea, the varnish first. Stop any unwanted bleed from deck finish. Might try more coats to white out, finish sand, then tape for deck finish. Will leave a wonderful clean crisp line that can easily be taped for that final coat of luster, no sanding that fine line. Your friend had a GOOD idea. Have a good time. Pt PS Even if you freehand the job the varnish first will be a big help

Deck will most likely be Fighting Lady Yellow which is real close to what I remember commonly used on painted canvas decks

The color is a different than I planned but I am happy with it. It brings back memories from when I was a kid around wooden boats.
Now put on the final coat of varnish and all of the deck fittings

The point is Mystic is my local show and usually where I bring my new toys. Between now and then if I have new engines I have to bring them on my landscape trailer since I don't have a truck. If there isn't anything new in that department then one of the boats will be there.
I did apply for a tandam permit but it seems that a Mazda isn't the proper tow vehicle.
