Absolute magic, the 'photo and youtube. Presume they were work boats raced at the weekend. I want to build one, put a spare 5/7 Blaxland twin in it and do a blistering 25mph. Pity there is no film of them turning at the mark buoys or are they just straight line specialists. 40 acre paddock required to turn at speed. Are there any historic boat race meetings held in America with films of them available.
Thanks for any advise or details of more viewing. |

Ross, There are a number of Historic boat racing shows/events held each year in the US but few involve the very early boats of the nine-teens. Almost all are generally reproductions or restorations of high powered raceboats of the 1950's an 1960's with 3 point hulls-more exciting to watch than the sliver boats of the teens with 25 mph speeds.
Check the web for APBA historic class racing events. Detroit holds an annual race program with the vintage class as part of the program. Also the Antique Boat Museum on the St Lawrence river here in New York , Sponsors of the semi-annual antique race boat regatta in late August.
The New Hampshire antique Boat Museum has sponsored similar events.
Check individually for video availability.

Thanks for that information. I will check those sites you mentioned and continue to try and locate more data on boats of that era. My preference would be the "silver boats of the teens" over the 3 point hydros.
