I have had the engine running on a bench with a lot of intermittant smoke & seeping oil.
The consensus is the rings need replacing.
Does any one know where I can get diagonally scarfed rings made?
Anyone have any info or history on this engine. I read somewhere that Kelvin started building the 3.5 inch in 1915?

Hi Jeff, Welcome. Diagonal, stepped or straight, the type of gap is non critical. More important is the condition of the bottom surface of the groove.
