I need a manual for my Straubel engine serial # 938. It's a 2 1/2 horse power 1 cyl engine. Any leads would be appreciated. Enclosed are 2 photos of my refurbished engine.
Thanks for your help. John

John,

Your engine looks great! It looks quite similar to the 6hp I am running. It took several years for us to get it running reliably but the last two years, it has been great, we run about 50 gal of gas through it each Summer. That's a lot of trips up the Milwaukee River.

I can't see from your pictures but there needs to be a compression spring holding the mixer shaft down. Without this it is impossible to lean the mixture out without cutting off the fuel. I just put a hardware store spring in place and it works great. The mixer is opened about 1 turn to start.

The timing system on this engine is quite simple. We put the lever at 10:00 or 2:00 to start. Pull the engine toward the lever and it will backfire and start the other way.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will try to help.
