Hello all:
I'm assisting one of the older members of the Nova Scotia Antique Engine and Tractor Association (http://antiqueengineandtractors.com/) with a search for info on an inboard motor he recently purchased. It's a "Stanley model C3". It is recently restored and running, however, we have no information on it. Any help in regards to operating manuals or other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Andy Nott

If it is the Stanley engine I am thinking of, it was made in Lawrence, Massachusetts. I have a friend with another complete unit if you would like to see the tag. Email me [email protected]

Andrew Nott sent me pictures of the Stanley that he was looking for info on. I am attaching pictures. Engine is similar to my Stanley and the Emmons that Tom Stranko restored. Andrew would appreciate any insight. Andrew is associated with the Nova Scotia Engine and Tractor Association

I would note that the engine appears to have been changed from Make and Break to a spark plug. It also would be a later version in that it has a Schebler carb with the heated air intake. This, unlike the unique Stanley carb that Tom's engine has or mine requires.

Keith, looks like it's still make and break, that's the insulated post in the head.

Thanks for posting, Keith. I trained as a auto mechanic about 50 years ago, but I have no experience or knowledge of "make and break" engines. The club I belong to has a few members with farm type stationary engines, all use magnetos. This is the only make and break I've been exposed to. The owner of this engine asked me to assist him in finding info on it, since he doesn't use computers.

Looks like this engine has been posted here before, on Mar 27, 2006, by Bill Rupka (posting for a neighbour)from Scots Bay, NS. Not too far from Windsor, unfortunately the posted link to pix Bill took is inactive, so no way to see if any changes have been made. After searching around the time that Bill made his post, it looks like there wasn't much info found then either. If anyone has any info on manuals or other tech literature, please contact me.
Thanks,
Andy
