I have a V8C-238, 327 C.I.D Graymarine engine that I need a starter for. It is a flywheel forward model. I do not presently have a starter so I cannot match #'s or provide any pictures. According to my manual it takes a Delco Remy (standard rotation) 74260 or (opp. rotatation) 74259. I assume these are Graymarine #'s because nobody I have called can match these #'s with any Delco remy part #'s.

I'm not 100% sure if I need the standard or opp. starter. It's a single engine boat and standing at the tramsom looking at the prop it appears to turn clockwise. This whole flywheel forward thing has got me all confused.

Where can I get a starter, and/or can anybody give me a non-Graymarine part #. Thanks for any help!

Adriaticsun,
283 and 327 are probably GM V-8's not Gray/AMC motors. Matt, Call Duby Marine (other posts here)
