Are you looking for an engine that looks like either one of these? http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/3517/ducatisor6.jpg |

dave, they are the same engine, as you say in the ebay listing parts are non existant, so for that reason i think i will also sell my motor and fit a 20 -30 hp more common motor. i have also got a manual for them on my computer, a nice man from france won it on ebay and coppied it and e mailed the copy. all the best martin |

Martin, What will you ask for your engine? I know Chris (Nice French Guy) needs an injector, and I'm looking for a pulley to fit my tapered shaft. Dave |

It would be nice to get £500, a big chunk towards a larger motor, i will keep it if it wont reach near that figure. my motor has a bell housing with some form of clutch in and a 2:1 gearbox on it I will try and get a photo on here later. |

Ive got a Ducati single cylinder 8 HP air cooled IS9 engine in my Gozzo here in Italy. They made a single and a twin at least. There is no reason to assume that the original log book is wrong (I have it). Made at Ducati Meccanica SpA in Bologna Italy 1976. It was easy to get the injector here for example as far as spares are concerned. Has anyone got a workshop manual? |

I have a ducati IS22 air cooled diesel twin cyl it seems to have done no work as the inside is as clean as a sewing machine and the injectors are perfect (tested) It is minus the starter motor so if any body knows anything more please let me know its a very good engine |

Darrel I think, like my single that it was also produced by Wisconsin Diesel in the USA as a WD2-860. Ducati are no use for spares but some parts are available here in Italy. I was recommended to buy a book as a worshop manual by Ernie in previous posting on this site |

I have some information (in English) that I could scan. As to spares the main agent in the UK used to be Ruhaak of Brighton, sadly long gone. It would be very surprising if Ducati had made their own piston rings etc as most companies buy-in such items so such things should not be a problem. As to yachties, they all like to have 100% worldwide spares which is not really possible but IS11s are now so cheap that it is possible to have two and keep one as a spare! Incidentally, air cooled diesels don't suffer from frost cracks which is a problem that ruins a lot of engines. |

Regarding starter motors (dynastarters actually!)these were usually made by Bosch. The IS11 uses a small one but the IS20 (single cylinder) uses a much larger one. Such items are now vintage and hard to find. The smaller dynastarters were also fitted to Volvo MD1s and MD1Bs and also to the Vire (that's a British made 2 cycle petrol engine made for sailing boats). At one stage Lucas and Siba both made belt-drive dynastarters but these are now quite rare. |

Dear sirs, there is only one person in the U.S. able to supply every sort of info about the Ducati mono & double cylinder little marine diesel units and his name is Dale Chambliss in Houston Tx. He also had a huge inventory of spare parts for such engines. You can still try to contact him at technodr@swbell.net. Good luck. Best regards. |

Thanks with help getting manuals. Can anyone help with a starting problem? I use a pull-cord to start my IS 9, have done for 30 years or more. But since the overhaul it comes up hard on compression and just 'bounces' back, any thoughts? |

Hi guys, have just got hold of what i assume to be a ducati IS9/11 with attatched marine box. The engine is complete but needs a new set of fuel in/out leads and a new banjo fitting for the top of the injector. Any help with either spare parts or info would be appreciated. Many thanks stevew |
