I have what I think is a pretty old Perlkins 3 Cylinder, the previous owner gave me some information on it so I have it listed as a:

P3 series Marine Engine
Engine Number 1033407
Di Cast Number: GKN 1301
L 26.6

I have a random recipt for some, bushes gaskets seals, valves etc with a model number on it:
bpe3a60531056315

and I have another random piece of paper with:

Cylinder Cold Hot
No3 395 400
No2 390 395
No1 390 395

BKB32S630

So no idea what that number is, but it looks a bit like a model number, couldn't find reference to it though.

Anyway I've also tried to include a photo. I'm pulling the engine out of the boat in the next few weeks and will be interested to know if it is re-storable and if anyone knows exactly when it was built etc.

Also Just found a Fax from 1995 With a Reference Number on it :-) Fun times here digging through old bits of paper, the fax paper is so faded it is very hard to read. But from what i can make out the engine is:

Reference: P.3 1033407 Build List 274, despatched 1/11/56

Managed to pull the engine out of the boat over the weekend.

We started by removing all the ancilaries that could easily be removed, water pump, fuel filter, asir filter etc. then managed to get all the bolts out for the gearbox and the connector on the prop shaft side. It was a big weekend.

Also have copies of old service manuals if anyone else needs them, although I see they are available online and at some of the state libraries in Australia.

So now I will be looking for spare parts etc as it looks to have had salt water right through it. So if anyone is able to point me towards some resourceful suppliers that can get parts or are good for re-machining existing stuff on the east coast of Aus I'd be interested to hear from you.

Also Engine is mostly confirmed as a pre-1974 model P3 marine Engine. the 1033407 is the serial number stamped on the engine. I did get a copy of the build plate on the weekend, will have to upload it at some stage.

Cheers

Turns out this is an original Perkins P3 with the Chain driven Timing, we've since purchased another Perkins P3, which appears to be a P3.144 uses a newer timing method (not chain) and will be looking to put this one back in the boat, but we still need a new gearbox to suit. If anyone sees this and has any thoughts on what sort of gearbox to look out for let us know :-)

This is my gearbox thread:
