Went on a small adventure to retrieve an NL 1 stationary from a 12 acre island in Little Sebago Lake, Maine. The island has been owned by same family since 1926 & engine put on the island by current owner's uncle a short while after 1926. He said his uncle never bought anything new so engine was probably used when put on.

A friend & I dismantled it to be able to load onto owner's Carolina boat. Owner used his ATV & trailer to transport from shed to boat dock about 30 to 35' below engine shed level using a circuitous route. Engine was stuck but in horsing it out of shed it broke free. Best gib keys I've seen for awhile & with a little filing & polishing we managed to get both flywheels removed. Removed covers & jug and engine base from sub-base. Also gov. weights, linkage & small easily broken parts. There was a mouse nest in cylinder but piston was at TDC & fairly minor corrosion confined to combustion area. Cylinder in way of piston travel appears to be very good.
Serial #933115.

Early attempt at running a generator. They then bought a sleeve valve 32 volt light plant & used Palmer on a pump. Pump is gone.
