Looks like it needs a water cooled exhaust manifold.

This is the closest match ( 1914 ad ) to Mikes eng I can find so far-- I don't see the timer, and it appears to be a dry exhaust. On Mikes eng I enlarged the picture and agree with Keith that it has a wet exhaust ???

Do I make out a swing arm timer or is that my imagination? I have what appears to be the same model engine but missing the cylinder. I don't remember if I have the water pump will have to look.

I tried to post earlier and it didn't show up. This looks like a Caille with the wrong timer to me. The check valve, water pump, and exhaust are all like a Caille. Detroit, American, and Termat and Moninhan seemed to share the same base.

J.B. your way ahead of us on this one, I went to key word search and typed Caille and your answer on Feb 2, 2003 explained the differences in these similar engines, the Caille has the timer and bolt on exhaust !! THANKS
