I have offered to help to try to identify this engine. It appears to have an Detroit feel to it. Any suggestions?

Many thanks
Richard

Guess ONLY...sort of kind of like a Gray R or S with the flywheel on the other end. My thoughts are based on the general shape and profile
Hope this helps

try Watermota, they made single and multi-cylinder small marine engines that look very similar---I hope this is an educated guess

Hello Passad,
This is excellent news, and I have passed on the information to the friend who owns the engine in Cornwall here in the UK.
Many thanks
Richard
