Tom & Wendy you have found another very unique
Old Marine Engine. The two hole flywheel design and the base casting say the engine is "The Atlantic Company", Amesbury, Massachusetts. Amesbury made Dories and launches at the turn of the century, their 1907 ads said you could have your option of motors so I think that this engine was made by one of the known makers. Several yrs ago Ernie commented on these engines and he thought that Cady of Canastota New York probably made them, looking at flywheels and base castings I tend to agree that Cady was the source.
This igniter engine is one I have no photos of or ads, so its rare and probably pre 1905 ? Great find keep getting these old timers.
